Thanks, I will and I did! Great food, great wine and a great place. We went up Etna, that was fantastic! Been home a couple of days now and today i have been able to get some work on Jeannie done. I looked again at the mast foot and decided it wasnt that good, so made another, much better I think. I spent the rest of the day throwing paint at her, most of the superstructure is done now, the funnel and some areas need a second coat, but its not looking so bad now. Ian

The name of the yard was actually George Thomson and sons.....note Thomson without the 'p'.....it was my grandad's and his brothers and apparently the boats were large fishing boats that 'rocked'. Unfortunately my grandad died and his brother took over and continued the building. I don't know about you, but somewhere along the line I think I am owed a small fortune, for what would have been mine anyway!!! Ian Thomson (Nottingham).

Hello Ian Thomson I'm not sure what you mean The name of the yard was actually George Thomson and sons The Thomson yard was directly down from Cluny Square, Buckie, and was still in operation until relatively recently. They began building zulus in the early 1890's, and built their first steam drifter IVY BF18 in 1905. They built a further 9 or so steam drifters up until 1915.
The McIntosh yards were at Portessie & Ianstown.
Cheers Glenn

The clumsy oaf is back! Took me nearly an hour to find 2 small peices missing in my super tidy ( ) garage! But, its all back together, paint touched up and looks no worse for wear! Hopefully I can progress a little again tonight. Sounds like a big project you have going there Glenn. Ian

Thats good news Got those last pics backed up. I'm reclaiming part of my large double garage into an entertainment/library/computer/kitchenette area. The area I used to use, is to be converted back to a self contained granny flat. So I'll be a while at it

Hi, Been busy with work at the moment so havent done much, just a few little bits. Here we have the portholes glazed and fitted - they were glazed by dropping a little clear epoxy into the turned porthole. The wheelhouse is glazed with clear acetate. The forward mast is rigged and the funnel has its graphics on! All items are dry fitted at the moment, thats why some have got a lean on - its NOT me working on it after drinking malt! ;D Ian

Yeah, she is starting to look ok. This is the build stage where it akll starts to come together, and yes, it is v satisfying. There are always frustrating periods in a model build, when you feel you are getting no where, or you are not sure about how to tackle something. On this build i gave myself a distraction, and here is the result - SKITZO! ;D
