Don't know whats happening here. I started a page on Jeannie McIntosh but have been flat out at work, and will be all week. It should be a very interesting page with all your latest info on Dunkirk. The email I sent had links to pics of Lord Hood & some I took of Feasible. I'll try sending it yet again

Hi, Been busy on the deck planking, all done and rubbed down now. Requires a sealant on it to finish. The deck planks are cedar, same as the hull planks, Ian

Hi, Had a good few hours at it, here is what to show for it: I made a former for the funnel and rolled 1/64 ply onto it, help together with masking tape until it dried, (swimbo thought it was a toilet roll!!) Took ages to work out how to do the chain steering, but it works great. Made the mast foot from brass sheet, and thats all for now folks! Ian

And here we have the latest efforts! I have put timber on the superstructure to simulate panelling, and I have also put in the frame tops around the gunn'ls - I think they are known as timberheads. Maybe I should explain why the steering system took a while to workk out, its because I had to resurrect schoolboy maths to calculate the anngles and lengths needed to convert the servo operation of 30 deg swing each side of centre to rudder operation of 45deg each side of centre - anyway it works! The latest additions to the web site are great, you are doing a great job there, are you getting many hits? Ian

Yes boatmadman - the website is expanding. Information breeds information ;D
Hard to say specifically how many hits as I have another website on the four masted barquentine SOUND OF JURA sharing the same space. The statistics show a tad over 4000 page views last month which was similar to the month before.

Hi,
Not making much progress on Jeannie at the moment, waiting for some supplies and decorating and busy at work etc etc etc.
Actually, a short break isnt such a bad thing - refreshes and re-motivates!
Am off to a big model engineering show in Harrogate on Saturday, hope to pick up some bits and peices there.

Hi, At last managed to get some time with jeannie! I have made some of the mast and boom fittings, yet to be painted. I have also been trying to work out how to get the grained effect i am told was popular at that time. I made up a couple of test peices, 2 coats of sanding sealer, 3 coats of yellow, then brown and created the grained pattern using a sharpened rubber for the thicker lines and - wait for it - a nit comb for the thinner lines! I think it works! Ian

Hi, Been working on the navigation lights and backboards, also made hinges for the doors and engine case vents. They need to be pickled in citric acid next to clean the flux off before drilling and painting. Thse small items always take ages to make! Ian
